A Drought

No better way to say it, I'm in a content drought.  I believe it to be my doing, my karma, or the universe just reminding me who's in charge.

It's been a day more than two weeks since my last post.  It seemed like a content bonanza there for a while finding and dispatching various wormhole travelers in my endeavor.  I had hoped to reveal some good news that also occurred two weeks ago, but had planned to do so with some wormhole justice.  Fate, as it would appear, has had different plans that I.

The reveal, that I was invited to join Wingspan Delivery Network as an Agent.  This was a 2 week candidate process in and of itself.  The assignment which began my journey here in the Blog.

After the invitation and some setup and learning how an Agent operates, I dove right back into wormholes looking for my first 'delivery'.  While I have encountered potential delivery recipients along the way, I have not found candidates suitable for my Nemesis Stealth Bomber.  Some evenings nothing at all, some evenings T3 cruisers passing at the hole.  More frustrating are the many Astero  frigates I encounter.  But these I must cede with caution as they would likely dispatch my vessel.

I have tried a few tactics in searching for targets...er customers.  I have explored vast chains of wormholes.  I have setup high security space routs near trade hubs, searching the wormholes connected to those systems.  I have only dipped solely into those wormholes attached to the HS systems.  I have scanned out thick chains of connected wormholes until finding other attached known space systems.  I have overnighted, started each day new.  All with no deliveries made.  My delivery success rate is currently sitting at 0.0.  This will not make for a good employee review with Wingspan management.

I am not yet deterred.  I will keep trying.  Possibly my showcase of failure and transparency will lift this curse and provide a suitable candidate.  Until then...

For now,

Be Well New Eden!

A Lesson Taught

Even though I hunt the nascent explorer, miner, combat site runner, I admire their resolve.  Their boldness to enter wormhole space and conduct the activity of their choice over and over.  I especially accolade the freshly minted capsuleers new to New Eden that boldly venture immediately into wormholes or other risky locations seeking their fortunes.  No reservations, they no sooner complete the exploration agent and they begin their journey.

Some do a bit of research to prepare themselves.  They begin with a basic set of skills and habits and as they go they learn by doing, learn by losing, learn by inquiry and asking their attacker for tips.  Some quickly develop their skillsets and become quite agile.  Others take longer.  And some never learn, but do provide desirable content to the hunters hot on their trail.  After a loss, some simply give up, never to undock in New Eden again.

This traveler, a mere 28 days into their journey.  The loss of the Heron, their first.  The loss of the pod, also their first.  Time will tell how this traveler learns, adapts, or simply vanishes.

The lesson for this traveler, do not scan when you are at known locations.  Especially the sun.  At least making a safe location in the system will provide a moment for escape prior to any pending doom.  The hunter must combat scan, showing a sign of their intent via the combat probes.  Granted there are some extremely adept combat scanners, skilled, and implanted to only increase their abilities.  But, the fact remains there will be a herald of the seeker, the openly visible combat probes narrowing down the target.

Do not give up.  Be bold.  Adapt and learn.  I genuinely hope to see you in the future.  Potentially in a future where I am the prey and you the hunter.

For now,

Be Well New Eden!

A Simple Pleasure

Its true, I do enjoy these wormhole engagements.  Each and every one of them.  Sometimes a bit too much.  I know, they are fairly inexpensive ships, newer capsuleers.  I still enjoy it.

I am in a bit of a quandary however.  I am still trying to figure out how to best catch our fearless explorers.  I have tried to hunt the wormhole connections closest to the established trade hubs of Jita, Amarr, Dodixie.  I have overnighted.  I have cascaded through the chains of low class wormholes.  For now the experiences are varied and generally pay off when I have low expectations.

We find our intrepid traveler in a venture and sucking gas.  When successful this is a very lucrative enterprise.  For the hunter, it's a fun dance of can I get into a position to catch the prey...without the prey leaving the gas signature.  For some gas suckers, in high class wormholes they even manage to leverage the sleepers that spawn in the gas signatures as protection.

Fortunate for me, I overnighted in this particular wormhole and had the signatures all scanned down and bookmarked.  Another bit of good fortune, when I inspected and set my observation ping to pinpoint the precise location of the venture, I was not decoaked.

This allowed me to land, decloak, capture and eliminate the target.

No trophy this round as our traveler managed to get the pod off before I could secure the lock and scram.  With my work completed, I depart the wormhole and proceeded onto the next hunt.

For now,

Be Well New Eden!
